Description

The Sports Medicine Association of Singapore’s (SMAS) Annual Symposium is a platform where members of the sports and exercise science medicine fraternity gather to share teachings and ideas. This year’s symposium, focusing on masters athletes, will be divided broadly into 4 sessions:

  • ·         Session 1: Physiology in the masters athlete
  • ·         Session 2: Masters athlete coaching and exercise training
  • ·         Session 3: Exercise and health in the masters athlete
  • ·         Session 4: Panel discussion

Each session shall comprise presentations and plenary discussions on the session topic.

The symposium will feature the following keynote speakers:

  • Dr Geoffrey Thompson (Sports Physician Consultant (Territory Sports Medicine, Australia)
  • Professor Robert Newton (Associate Dean, Medical and Exercise Sciences; Co-Director, Exercise Medicine Research Institute; Foundation Professor of Exercise and Sports Science (Edith Cowan University))
  • Mr Kunalan Canagasabai (Senior Manager (Sport Singapore) and former Olympian and national sprinter)
