This session will cover the basic aspects about long-term and short-term periodization, the limitations of traditional periodization for modern sport and the alternative planning options at hand. The session will also focus on the importance of training intensity distribution, the use of strength training for endurance performance, and the importance of tapering strategies in the lead up to major competitions.
Dr Inigo Mujika is a leading expert in the areas of peaking and tapering. He is now Associate Professor at the University of the Basque Country, Associate Researcher at Finis Terrae University in Chile, and Associate Editor for the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance.
